Consistent with the latest policies and procedures of the National Tuberculosis Control Program of the Department of Health, a Tuberculosis Medical Advisory Committee (TB MAC) shall be established at least per region. The TB MAC is a multi-disciplinary case management committee composed of physicians and nurses with expertise on TB management as well as specialists on other fields of medicine to provide technically sound and evidence-based recommendations to clinicians and health care providers who have challenging or difficult cases of TB to achieve correct diagnosis and management, to prevent development of further drug resistance and further complications due to TB disease.
The impact of the pandemic digitally transformed the way physical meetings are conducted and compelled all to adapt to the changing landscape and subsequently adopt various digital platforms.
The Electronic Tuberculosis Medical Advisory Committee (eTBMAC) is a web-based platform interfaced with a mobile health application to provide effective and efficient support on difficult or challenging cases of TB (both susceptible and drug-resistant) from the members of the Regional and National TB MAC to the medical frontliners using digital technology.
